Unknown Tone Records now returns with “Water Garden”,
a rather peculiar study on the subjects of field recording and sound manipulation.
Darren McClure and Miguel Isaza, both heavily trained to produce such pieces of great value,
create an atmosphere that feels yet natural but not actually
sharing that ethereal mood of an open space.
That is mostly happening due to the fact that in their case,
field recordings do not serve as the base of things
but provide an overall filling instead.
Essentially, “Water Garden” grounds itself on electronics and
not on natural soundscapes;
and that is what makes it all the more fascinating.
